Trend IQ3 end of life: what it actually means for your building

Most London estates still running IQ3 outstations are one failed controller away from an unplanned shutdown. Spares are drying up, refurbished stock is inconsistent, and a like-for-like swap is no longer a same-day fix.

The good news is that a migration does not have to mean ripping out the field. In almost every retrofit we deliver, the sensors, valves and actuators are perfectly serviceable - it is the controller layer and the supervisor that need to move forward.

Plan the phasing before the hardware

The single biggest cost driver on an upgrade is access, not equipment. Weekend possessions, tenant notice periods and plant shutdown windows dictate the programme.

  • Survey every panel and record the real point count, not the drawing's
  • Group floors or plant areas into possessions that can each be completed and proven
  • Agree a rollback position for every possession before it starts
  • Migrate strategies to the new supervisor before the first outstation is touched

Get the reporting you are paying for

An upgrade is the cheapest moment you will ever get to add metering, trend logging and automated reporting. If ESG disclosure is on your horizon, specify it now rather than as a second project two years later.
