What good looks like: a control panel build quality checklist
Form 4 compliance is the floor, not the ceiling. Nine things we check on every panel that leaves our workshop.

A control panel is the one part of a BMS installation that an engineer will open, stare at and swear about for the next fifteen years. Build quality is a maintenance decision as much as an electrical one.
The checklist
- Every core ferruled and numbered to match the schematic
- Segregated ELV and LV routes with adequate trunking fill
- Labelled spare ways and genuine spare capacity, not just gaps
- Point-to-point tested and signed before FAT, not during it
- Drawings inside the door and matching the as-built revision
- Thermal headroom calculated, not assumed
- Consistent component standard across the estate for spares
- Changeover and resilience proven under load
- Photographic record of the finished build issued with the O&M
